Volunteers

Posted by: Eric Lane 3 weeks ago

Volunteering at Fellowship Missions offers a chance to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families in need.

For those looking to serve in a Christian-based environment, Fellowship Missions provides an opportunity to walk alongside residents, offering both practical help and spiritual support.

We spoke with a dedicated volunteer couple: Kim and John Wood, who shared their experiences and how their faith aligns with the mission of Fellowship Missions.

Why They Decided To Volunteer

As Christians involved in their local church, Kim and John felt called to help others in a more direct way.

“We are both Christians and with Fellowship Missions also being Christian-based, we felt like we could make a real impact,” they shared. Their commitment to faith made volunteering at Fellowship Missions feel like a natural extension of their beliefs and desire to serve others.

The Rewarding Volunteer Experience

Being a volunteer at Fellowship Missions has been a deeply rewarding experience for this couple. They describe it as building meaningful, lasting friendships with the residents of the shelter.

“It’s a rewarding friendship,” they said. Through their service, they have walked alongside individuals who have faced significant challenges, providing both support and compassion as they work to rebuild their lives.

A Strong Connection: Walking Alongside Residents

One individual who stands out is Tracy. “Tracy has become one of the family. He’s like a brother to us both,” they shared.

Through their time at Fellowship Missions, they have witnessed Tracy’s progress, both mentally and spiritually, and have grown close as they support him on his journey. In fact, they take Tracy to church with them, reinforcing the deep sense of kinship that has developed over time.

Encouraging Others To Volunteer

When asked what they would say to someone considering volunteering, Kim and John enthusiastically recommend getting involved. They have already inspired others to start volunteering at Fellowship Missions.

“We’ve suggested it to some people, and one is already doing it,” they said. “For anyone unsure if they can make a difference, they encourage stepping out in faith—sometimes all it takes is one step to begin a journey of service.”

A Bible Verse That Inspires Them

This couple holds Hebrews 13:5 close to their hearts: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” This verse serves as a reminder of God’s constant presence and unwavering support, especially when walking alongside others in their struggles.

It resonates deeply with their volunteer experience at Fellowship Missions, where they see firsthand how God’s love and guidance help people through their challenges.

Faith and Fellowship Missions’ Mission

Kim and John’s personal faith aligns with the mission of Fellowship Missions. “I really believe in what Fellowship Missions stands for. They are Biblically based and passionate about being the hands and feet of Christ,” says Kim.

Volunteering at Fellowship Missions has allowed them to actively live out their faith while making a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.
