Kitchen Volunteers
We have several options for kitchen help. Carry-in meals; prepare, serve and clean up breakfast, lunch or dinner; help wash dishes after meals.
Frequency: weekly, monthly / Duration: approximately 2 hours
Current need: breakfast help Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays; lunch & dinner help on various days throughout the month
Front Desk Volunteers
Answer phones and check-in guests as they arrive. The check-in process includes welcoming guests, making sure they know and agree to abide by the shelter rules, and administering a breathalyzer test.
Frequency: weekly / Duration: 2 hour minimum shift
Current need: Sunday 6pm-10pm; Monday 8:30am-3pm; Thursday 8:30am-7pm; Friday 3pm-7pm; Saturday 8:30am-10am and 2pm-7pm
Childcare Volunteers
Help provide loving care to residents’ children during bible study and/or program meetings.
Frequency: weekly / Duration: approximately 30 minutes – 1 hour
Catalyst Program Volunteers (Mentor)
This opportunity is based on a biblical model of discipleship which involves coming alongside our residents, building a relationship with them, and helping them toward self-reliance as they explore or grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Frequency: weekly / Duration: approximately 90 minutes
Jobs for Life Volunteers (Champion/Small Group Facilitator; or Class Facilitator)
Jobs for Life is a biblically-based employability skills program geared toward individuals who are unemployed or under-employed. By exploring God’s purpose for humanity through vocation, it prepares students for meaningful work as they work toward a life of independence. JfL explores roadblocks that have prevented student’s from securing employment and keeping it, and helps them develop a plan for how to overcome these challenges.
Frequency: Jobs for Life runs in 8-week sessions twice a year. Classes take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoon. Champions serve once or twice weekly. Facilitators serve once a week or bi-weekly / Duration: approximately 2 hours
