Volunteer Spotlight: Tom and Donna Miller
Volunteers
At Fellowship Missions, we are continually blessed by the selfless individuals who step forward to serve with compassion, humility, and a heart full of faith. Among these dedicated volunteers are Tom and Donna Miller, whose quiet presence and unwavering commitment have made a meaningful impact on the lives of many in our community.

Tom first felt drawn to Fellowship Missions when the organization was located on Winona Avenue. He recalls stopping by several times simply to ask, “How can I help?” Though unsure of what that might look like at the time, his heart was already open and ready to serve.
It wasn’t until a couple from their church invited them to a Saturday night game night that the opportunity became clear. Tom and Donna decided to give it a try, and they never looked back!
What started as a monthly gathering has now become a long-standing tradition. Together with others from their congregation, Tom and Donna spend their Saturday evenings building relationships, sharing laughter, and offering encouragement to the residents of Fellowship Missions.
“It’s been an eye-opening and rewarding experience,” Tom says. “It’s shown us the great need that exists and how Fellowship Missions is truly reaching into people’s lives.”
A True Calling From God
For Tom, volunteering is more than an act of service; it’s a calling. “The desire was God-planted,” he shares. The couple found they could make space in their schedule, and the more they showed up, the more others from their church followed suit.
Now, many of those original volunteers are regulars too, forming a team of faithful encouragers who brighten the lives of those they serve. “Many of the guests know us by name,” says Donna, “and they look forward to game night just as much as we do.”
Connecting At The Gathering Place
Beyond Saturday evenings, Tom and Donna also volunteer during the week, often spending Wednesday afternoons at The Gathering Place. Sometimes that means welcoming someone new, other times it means being present, praying, or studying Scripture.
They recall a recent encounter that left a deep impression. A man came in clearly under the influence, but eager to talk. Through Scripture and conversation, the man prayed to receive Christ. Just two days later, he tragically lost his life.
“God brought that man to a place where his path intersected with mine,” Tom reflects. “That’s one of the reasons Fellowship Missions matters. It provides a space where lives can be touched, even if only for a moment.”
Tom’s time at The Gathering Place has also become a personal sanctuary. Whether he’s guiding a visitor, studying the Bible, or praying over the handwritten requests on the prayer wall, he finds fulfillment simply in being there. “It’s a blessing,” he says. “Even just sitting in quiet reflection, you can feel God at work.”
Verses like Philippians 1:6 and 2 Corinthians 5:19 – 20 speak deeply to the couple’s heart and remind them of the bigger picture: God is faithful, and we are His ambassadors. “He has entrusted us with this message of reconciliation,” Tom shares. “And sometimes, all it takes is being willing to show up.”
